Pickleball Association Berlin-Brandenburg
What we do
Members of Berlin’s pickleball clubs had been meeting for several years to work towards shared goals. The association grew out of that cooperation. We are committed to developing the sport across Berlin and Brandenburg: we support existing club sections and help clubs set up new ones. In Brandenburg in particular, the sport still has room to grow.
Our statutes set out four tasks:
- Organising and promoting the sport for the public benefit, including explicitly for young people and for senior players.
- Consistent play — a common interpretation of the rules in line with national and international regulations, and training for coaches and referees.
- Tournaments and league play for all age groups, starting on a modest scale and growing with the number of clubs.
- Courts and partners — working with municipal sports authorities, universities and schools, and seeking funding so that more indoor and outdoor facilities become available.
Working with others
A young association depends on cooperation. We seek it with clubs, with other associations and with businesses that want to advance the sport in the region.
We are seeking membership of the state sports federations of Berlin and Brandenburg. As an umbrella organisation, we are the official point of contact between our member clubs and the national governing bodies, in particular the Deutscher Pickleball Verband.
Much of what we do comes about simply because people talk to one another: contacts between clubs, cooperation agreements, a part in how the sport develops regionally. That is what the association is for.
